Here at 3CC we acknowledge that not only do we have a great deal to teach our children, but there is also a great deal that we have to learn from them.
When describing Ash Wednesday to my daughter, she first asked if she could have an angel instead of a cross. I said she couldn't. She didn’t want a cross. “I want something that’s pretty,” she said. Then she asked if she could have a heart “because God loves us.” I smiled and I told her that after the services I would mark her forehead with a heart because God loves us.
I wish we were as transparent as kids sometimes. Those familiar with the Christian tradition recognize the cross as a symbol of love… but it isn’t pretty. It’s a symbol of self-sacrifice. It’s that kind of love. A child's honest questions helped me see that.
We welcome all families to be a part of our community. Children may remain with thier parents throughout the services or attend the nursery and Sunday school made available each week during the sermon for children ages 3 months to 10 years old. The childrens ministry is staffed by loving people who will teach Biblical values and provide a well-supervised environment for your child.
